| The highlight of the plot has been the eccentric performance of David
Andrew Macdonald as Prince Edmund, Richard's wicked kid brother. A modern-day
Cary Grant, Macdonald has starred on only one other soap--NBC's Another World,
where he played 200-year old time traveler Jordan Stark and his contemporary
look-alike David Halliday. "So outlandish soap fantasy is really all I know,"
says Macdonald. "This kind of storytelling may not be everybody's cup o'
tea, but a lot of female viewers are desperate for it. They're saying, 'Hey,
I like this romance drug! I like feeling these big, grand, dizzying feelings.
I'm tired of looking at the crack of my husband's butt when he fixes the
toilet. I need an escape!'"
