Who Is Prince Edmund?

Just as David Andrew Macdonald's "world" was crashing down around him, he saw the "light" at the end of the tunnel. The actor, who on Thursday, July 8, debuts as GL's mysterious Prince Edmund, won the role just weeks after he learned that ANOTHER WORLD, where he had been playing the equally mysterious Jordan Stark, had been cancelled.

The In Depth Story: "It all happened very quickly," marvels the actor, who began reporting to GL just two weeks after AW's final tape day on May 25.
Macdonald, who describes Edmund as "a cultured individual of royal blood," figures prominently in the story involving Reva's missing years. But don't expect him to reveal much beyond that. "I really know nothing," he laughs. "They send you in blind until you get your scripts. (But) the way it's been described to me, it sounds like a blast. I'm really looking forward to it."

The mysterious Prince Edmund may pose a threat to newlyweds Josh and Reva.

Although the role is recurring, Macdonald admits he could be around for a while. And considering how well he and Kim Zimmer (Reva) have been hitting it off, he's not in any hurry to leave. "She's got a twinkle in her eye that sort of says, 'Okay, I'm ready for it--let's go,'" he reveals. "Some actors have that boxer mentality. Those are the kinds of actors that I have the most fun with...people who get out there and when the cameras come on, it's that twinkle in the eye that says I'm ready to spar. Zimmer has that kind of energy."
Despite AW's unfortunate cancellation, Macdonald had no trepidation about continuing in soaps. "I had signed on (with AW) for three years, so I'm very happy to be staying in daytime," he says. "Not only is the pay wonderful for a New York actor, (but) it's also fun to wake up in the morning and go to work when you enjoy doing it as I've enjoyed it at AW. And I get to stay in New York, too. It's a great gig."
