Sing-A-Long

Like lots of married couples, David Andrew Macdonald (Edmund) and his wife, Nicolette, solve the problem of whom to visit for Christmas by "doing the old holiday swap between my family and hers." On the years when it's Macdonald's turn, he and his wife spend Christmas Eve at his mother's house, where they and the rest of the clan indulge in Macdonald's favorite holiday tradition: "We all sit around singing Christmas carols." And he does mean everyone, even his brother-in-law, who is Jewish. "In the beginning, he was very concerned about singing," Macdonald recalls. "And now, he knows not only every word to every single carol, he sings the loudest and actually knows a lot of the harmonies!"

Macdonald's favorite holiday tradition? Equal-opportunity caroling on Christmas Eve.
