For most of us, recalling a school play or musical performance turns up just an old, faded memory. But when David Andrew Macdonald (Edmund) remembers his school play from junior high, it's the turning point in his life! "I did a musical revue in the ninth grade," recalls the actor. "It featured a song with a group of people called "Book Report," and I saw the audience was in stitches while I was doing my part." Macdonald loved making people laugh and when he heard the loud applause at the finale, he was thrilled. But the lad-who-would-become-adult actor's big surprise came right after the curtain came down. "My music teacher ran up to my mother, took her by the shoulders and said, 'If this boy doesn't go on the stage, it'll be a sin!'" Getting such positive reinforcement had a profound effect on the young Mr. Macdonald. It gave him a goal. "I thought, 'Oh, maybe that's something I can do.'"
