GL's David Andrew Macdonald answers your questions

Are we going to see more interaction between Jonathan and Edmund?--Lynn, Maryland
I'd like there to be. There's a lot of potential, but they've been focusing on other aspects of the show. Edmund's world is primarily focused on Cassie, Dinah and Jeffrey. When Jonathan comes into the picture, it's because he's sleeping with Dinah or tried to molest Cassie. It has less to do with the dynamic between Edmund and Jonathan.

I think you are the most talented actor in the business. What do you regard as your greatest achievement?-- Angela Cobb, Davenport, NY
My greatest achievement is finding fans out there like yourself who have such great taste (laughs). Personally, it would have to be my kids.

What is your favorite thing about working on GL?-- Erin Manor, Clinton, Miss.
To see where the story is going. I don't often ask what's happening in advance. I figure it out as it goes along.

Would you have liked more scenes with GA before he left? Considering how Phillip and Edmund hated each other, it would have been fun to have Edmund as one of the murder suspects.-- J.L, Boston
I would have loved to work with Grant. But Phillip and Edmund hadn't had story together in so long, it would have been problematic to include me in that. But who knows what the future holds ...

How do you feel about the way the writers seem bound and determined to break up Cadmund and hook Edmund up with that witch Dinah?-- Emily Pike, Stigler, Okla.
It's a great place to go. Their intention with the story is to hook us up and keep the four of us rotating and feeding off of one another. [Head writer] DK is achieving stuff on the show that no one has been able to achieve before. Things are outstanding on the page, and for one of the first times since I've been on the show, it's up to the actors to live up to the potential of the story, as opposed to the actors trying to make something happen that's virtually impossible.

Many actors say they never view their own work or final projects. Do you watch your performances on GL?--Jane Lowley, Rockland, Mass.
Not all the time, but I do watch. I remain somewhat dispassionate and think: "That worked" or "That didn't work."

You mentioned that you once considered a career in opera. What would be your dream opera role?--Bree, San Antonio, Texas
I don't have the voice to do it, but that would have to be Don Giovanni. He's a villain, and he's damned to hell at the end of it all. And, of course, all the women love him.

Have you ever considered recording a CD?--Ellie Pepe, New York City
Sure, but the thing that would bug me is it would be: "Soap guy does music." I don't focus on my singing much anymore, but I'd love to do a musical again. It's something I'd have to work on, though, because my voice is out of shape.

Could or should Cadmund be a "happliy ever after" couple? What do you like best about working with LW? And how would Edmund react to having a child of his own?-- Fawne, Meadville, PA
They shouldn't because then we wouldn't be on the air that much (laughs)! And they couldn't because their past is completely unresolved. They were fools to think it was ... Laura is a lot of fun, and she enjoys working on scenes ahead of time. She really focuses on developing story with the person that she's working with ... Edmund would be terrified. He feels pretty inadequate as an individual, and if faced with trying to raise another one, he'd feel even more inadequate. Therefore, his arrogance would come through even more.

Would you rather play a villain or a hero?--Jennifer Kulig, Medina, Ohio
Although they get more praise, heroes have a tendency to be pretty flat on the page. Less is demanded of them. From an acting point of view, it's more fun to play the villains. From an "I want to garner as many fans as possible" point of view, it's better to play the hero (laughs).
